Principal Contractor License / Plant Operating License
Red Ochre has gained a great deal of experience in developing management systems,
supporting and advising Customers when maintaining or applying for a Network Rail
License. These services include participation during the Network Rail Audits and
in preparing the annual Assurance Files etc.
The Principal Contractor License is aimed at businesses that are managing infrastructure
projects and/or maintenance contracts that involve the management of subcontractors.
Typically, these contracts are direct to Network Rail and infrastructure projects
would fall under the CDM Regs 2007. When applying for a License you must first gain
a Network Rail sponsor, i.e. someone who is employed by Network Rail that is in a
position to offer you potential work in the future. To retain a License, a business
must be able to demonstrate they have safely undertaken projects / contracts using
and managing subcontractors.
The Plant Operating License is aimed at businesses that are looking to manage the
movements of Road Rail Vehicles (RRV) / On Track Plant (OTP) within a rail possession.
Typically, these services include the planning and supply of suitable OTP and staff
to ensure its safe on and off tracking, loading and movements within the possession.
When applying for a License you must first gain a Network Rail sponsor, i.e. someone
who is employed by Network Rail that is in a position to recognise the potential
advantage of your business holding a License. To retain a License, a business must
be able to demonstrate they have safely undertaken OTP works.
All License holders are exempt from the RISQS Core Module Audit, but they must successfully
pass the annual RISQS Technical Audit and submit an annual Assurance File to Network
Rail.
